Battery Air Pump Question

Negative. Shawn's link looks like the ticket. I'm ordering one myself! :)

Hmm the description says "saves fish even if you are not at home" so I took that as it would. ANyone else have experience with these pumps?

I used the Blue PennPlax pump (your second link), and I'd vouch for it. The club did a group buy on them for about $7 each a few years ago, so they've been well tested by many club members. And you can't beat the price.

Personally I can't see the point of paying $55 for the same thing, with rechargable batteries.

K I think Ill be putting in an order for the Pennplex pump. Would I be ok just ordering 1 you think?

Someone here tested the run time, and gave up the test after almost 24 hours, so I'd be inclined to believe their claimed run time.

It's certainly enough to keep the reef alive until you get home from work, or a day out and about. It may even be enough to keep it going for a weekend that you're away.

they saved my tank last summer during a power outage.

when I bought my generator (auto-start) I foolishly thought that I could go without them. Problem is if a breaker on one of my pumps trips, I'll still lose circulation (and the genny won't turn on) so I put the powerheads back on a UPS, and a battery powered pump in each tank. I'll get 24 hours of runtime on (tunze) powerheads on the UPS, and air pump on battery too. I also have the tunze up high enough in the tank that if the return pump is not running, the lower water level in the tank will make the nanostream powerhead suck air at the top....adding a lot more air to tank.

The run time is more like 3 days straight with a pair of fresh batteries (I've tested). For the price this is the cheapest insurance for your tank you can imagine.
