Fed my tank some frozen cyclops and then used my long blaster to put some TDO pellets in the corner and my captive bred male mandarin swam as fast as he could from the rockwork he was eating on right to the corner for his personalized meal!

Can't speak highly enough about the benefits of captive bred mandarins over wild caught (besides the cost lol) as my guys eats every frozen food and pellet I toss in the corner!

Dave,
Do you use a refugium or just target feed. I really want a captive bred but do not want to put any hang on contraptions on my 54 corner. I have 50lbs of live rock that I could seed with extra life but always thought I needed more.
Thanks, your guy looks awesome!

I have a sapphire 34 sump with a refugium and a 8 gallon display refugium (not fully fuge's up though) and I dose BBS daily and copepods 1-2 times a week.

I only spot feed the pellets in the same spot of the tank. For frozen food I just turn off flow and watch and when he's eaten the first few I turn the PH on and off every few minutes to stir up more frozen food to his feeding corner.

Thanks Dave, sounds like the little guy has a great home. I think I need to start a refugium before considering one of these beauties.

Definitely should IMO. Gives a safe spot for pods and other microfauna to reproduce!
