Best Bulkhead fittings?

Greetings,

Although I've kept various underwater creatures for many years, I've never had a tank with a filtration system completely outside the main tank. Although a little intimidating at times, I look forward to the adventure. Having said that, I am having trouble learning the most reputable brands of hardware for my plumbing bulkheads and other fittings.

Any help people could offer would be greatly appreciated.

no need for the heavy duty haywards unless you have very large applications

I think I am going to also ask the plumber for our new house to see if there is a brand/make he thinks is the best. I want to use as good equipment as possible for things as critical as plumbing.

What qualifies as, "very large applications?"

large applications would be 2000g+ where you have a need for high pressure high volume pumps. when you get into the 3" size, you have trouble finding them in the "economy" style.
any online or local place is going to carry the same comparable quality, there really is not a brand name difference when it come to bulkheads.

So, am I to understand their is really no extra well made bulkheads out there and basically one is as good as another? If so, I am surprised and dissapointed.

Don't get anything with the word "economy" in it... I broke two bulkheads over here lately... split right up the seam.

The LFS guy even warned me about the cheaper models that they are supplying him with.... he has a bucketload of split ones.
