i've been looking into getting an open brain coral. their colors are awesome. i've tried to find a thread with their specific needs but haven't had much luck. i've done research online and it says they are really easy to keep. i have 54wx4 t5 lights now. i'll be getting a new 6bulb 324w light in about a month. are these the same as most corals and i just have to have all my parameters in check? do they need more intense lighting than t5 can give or will the 6bulb be fine for it? i always like to ask here for personal experience after i do my initial research online. thanks for any help.

I love my open brains, and they are very easy to keep. T5's should be fine, I have mine under PC's, very high wattage, but they don't necesarily need it. It's so cool to watch them feed, sonetimes I take a small piece of krill and hand it to them and watch it slowly consume.

t5 is perfectly fine, they need to be fed regularly though, i have 2 and feed them once every 2-3 days with frozen shrimp! just make sure your shrimps and fishes don't steal food away from it, i hate it when that happen!!

nice i was hoping i could get one. do they use up alot of calcium? my clowns are dirty thieves :) they figured out that when i feed my acans they can swoop in and steal some food from them. its part of their route in my tank to check out the acan garden to see if any food is there now.
