Can I go without a skimmer for a month with a 28G Nano Cube?

Can I go without a skimmer for a month with a 28G Nano Cube? My skimmer pump just crapped out four weeks before I move into my new apartment with my upgraded tank. I'd rather not spend money on a new pump if I don't have to, especially since I just dropped a ton of money on a wedding, new furniture, etc. Thanks in advance.

You can go forever without a skimmer in a nano. The amount of water volume changed per month, assuming you do a 20-30% water change, outweighs any benefits a skimmer provides the system. I have a bio 14 with no skimmer and stock filter, minus bioballs, and added a handful Chaeto macro algae. But if you need peace of mind, then I'd get one.

That's what I figured, but sometimes we need peace of mind! Although the skimmer does pull out a pretty good amount of stuff...

I haven't had a skimmer running in my 90 since I had my power strip fire...I just keep up with water changes and am monitoring my parameters like a hawk.

I think it also depends on the amount of fish you keep in your tank because it's the fish that make the mess. I have a 14 gal biocube frag tank that runs fine without a skimmer. If you have fish, keep up with the water changes until you get a new skimmer.

You should be fine as long as you keep up with the water changes. I have a few pumps lying around if you need a certain pump.
