I am thinking of getting one and putting him im my reef tank but I want to know if he will bother my corals, I only have soft corals in the tank. will he bother any of my other fish, I have small fish, clowns, dotty back, cleaner wrasse, cleaner shrimp, small hermits, snails.I don't want to put him in and have to get him out that will be a big messy.

I would be very careful they can be aggressive.

+1 what Jay said.

I had one in my reef and it was a great fish never bothered any inverts in 4-5 years...that said I had one years ago that had a taste for inverts. If you do a search you will find more info on this fish in a reef tank, they can be a nice addition but hit or miss.

I heard a theory that they will not go at your cleaners becuase they will KNOW they are helpful shrimp and I have actually seen it happen BUT I would not have the courage to test it out.

Hey Jim long time! Kristy, they are a nice looking fish and as said, hit or miss. I've had a lot of "luck" with blue throat triggers and when I get my hands on one I'll try out a sargassum trigger (X. ringens) good luck

Thank you everyone, I am a beginner on reef tanks and I don't want to take the chance of losing all my fish and inverts.
