Can SPS Polyps close that fast?

I have taken to feeding my corals in an effort to enhance growth and color.

I am using DT's oyster feast for feeding my SPS.

I use a baster, and allow a cloud to waft over the coral.

I notice, however, that the SPS polyps close pretty quickly upon contact with the cloud.

Are they feeding?
Or are they annoyed?

i don't have anything scentific to back it up but i always feel oyster eggs and planktonic type food are better of just added to the water column than target fed.

There could be a few things to consider when target feeding them.
What water are the eggs in that you are squirting into the tank, are you using tank water?
Are you using enough tank water that the frozen oyster eggs have not chilled the water at all?
Are you causing a significant shadow over the coral when you feed it?
Is the current from the baster hitting the SPS in anyway?
all the above could cause a coral to retract its polyps quickly.

On the other hand it could be feeding, you need a mesoscope;)

I add the a tablsespoon or two of refrigerated oyster egg solution to an 8 oz. Styrofoam cup of tank water, so the water should be the same temperature, more or less. I also add at night, and I have discounted the incidences of bumping the coral. This is for SPS only.

sounds like these are the oyter eggs that are not frozen but the ones in liquid.
If thats the case there may also be a preservative that the eggs are suspended in that causing the corals to close up.
I would just add the mixture to a high flow area of the tank and let the corals find the food.
