I bought a used protein skimmer over a year ago and finally decided to hook it up since it's better than my current one. Question: It looks clean enough, but should I still run vinegar or anything through it just to make sure? What about the sponge in the pump? Does that need to be cleaned with anything other than water? I can't imagine anything bad can still be alive after being dry for a year, but who knows. Strange things happen in this hobby.
