cleaning plasric barrels

Hello there,
I purchased some really nice plastic barrels for making salt water a few months back from a fellow remember. The barrels came from a micro brewery and had one of the ingredients for beer in them. I originally cleaned them with some vinegar and a brush however i have noticed some cyano bloom after i do a water change and wonder if there is still some residue left in the barrel. Any suggestions on how i can clean the barrel thoroughly to rule out this being the cause of the outbreak?

Thanks,
Tom

I used a bleach mixture and then left my barrels outside to dry. It was summertime when I did it.
Is the bloom bad? I'm sure it will dissipate after a while

Bloom isnt too bad, i just dont want to be introducing anyrhing but clean water in the water changes.

Depends what was in the barrel. Once a chemical has infiltrated the plastic (color changes are usually a good indicator) there's no sure way of getting them out, though they will slowly leach back into solution over time. If you can see th stain, smell or taste the chemical in the water than you're probably better off just getting a barrel that does not have the issue.
