Coral Recommendation Needed!

pesto

Keeping it Simple!
I have a large flat rock (8" x 7") that sits 7" below the surface. I would like a coral recommendation for this rock. I would like something with nice color and full growth up to the surface and filling out the open space. In the picture you will see there is a birdsnest next to the rock and Galaxia on the front surface. Any suggestions and recommendations will be appreciated.

Be careful with the galaxy they have some long sweepers 6" - 18" and will win anything you put near it even the birds nest looks kind of close. Put a clam or something you like. Are you looking for Softy's or SPS? Large green slimmer would look nice.

Either softy's or SPS . . . I am open to any suggestions.

If it were my flat rock I'd place a nice Blue Milli there.

That looks like about the highest light spot in the tank. Because of that, I would say go with SPS over softie (assuming you are planning on keeping both). Not that a lot of soft corals don't like bright light, just that SPS need it.

I bet a plating monti would look real cool there once it grew in a bit.

i like jims idea of a nice swirling monti cap. purple rim/green caps are nice.

Hmm for that spot I'm going to go against the others and suggest that you *don't* go with a cap. IME They grow out more than up, and will probably shade everything below it (and noone likes being stuck with mushrooms because their cap got too big).

How about a tort?

+1 I thought I'd try a bunch of different caps and now they've grown out of control. And they're not easy to sell off. I end up breaking off nice sized frags and tossing them. :(

I regret getting that much cap. Now a Tort? NICE!!

How about letting some nice Superman or pokerstar Monti cover it? I love my superman.

All great suggestions! No cap . . . I already have two in the tank.

Don't go with a Monti cap they are prety much weeds once they get big anyway. I would find a nice (SPS)table coral.

But lose the galaxia it will sting everything around it, well at least move it to an isolated area
