Cost of running MH

Looking for a ballpark estimate for the cost of running my fixture. 5 x 250 SE MH run 10 hours a day.

could be like 80-100 a month before chiller if needed and actinics

find out how much your electric company charges......ie 12cents per killowatt hour and do the math, theres a reef cost calculator on RC and its easy to use ..........i think the 80-100 per month is close maybe a little high, but a good estimate, now you can see hy a LOT of people are downsizing and going "greener"

the fixture and ballast also make a difference since i think some combos use up to 270w each, if you want to get very specific i think sanjay has a chart

I have a 250watt mh pendant that has a magnetic ballast drawing 384 watts, how inefficient is that? My electric bill went up $15 when I added this light so you may be looking at $30 a month or less if you have more efficient ballasts.

I run 3 250W MH, and I know we just paid an electric bill that was almost ::::$600.00::::

The pool, central AC and irrigation booster pump make it spike up in the summer. It runs ~300 when the air doesn't run. I expect that a solid $100 is my tank

according to the reef cost calculator my whole tank runs me $31......

........and i have recently started chasing the wife (I mean she used to leave one recessed kitchen light on at night FOR THE CATS!!!!!!!!!....dont get me started) and KIDS around turning lights off and unplugging phone chargers, and it has made a serrious difference...
