Did I kill my 'nem?

Ugh. I did a little tank maintenance this evening. This included moving a couple of things around. One of my BTA was on a piece of rock, and also slightly on a shell on which I had glued a frag. I decided I really didn't want him to kill the frag, so I grabbed the shell and moved it.

Or at least I tried to. As I pulled I realized I was tearing the anemone. I quickly put the shell back where it was, after seeing that the anemone wasn't letting go and that I had inadvertantly torn his foot (nothing was torn off, it's just got a good healthy rip in it now), It didn't pull that hard - I must have just had the exact right angle :(

he pulled way down small and stayed that way. What should I expect? Did I kill him off (or is it too soon to tell) - anything in particular I should be on the lookout for?

Ugh again. And thanks.

Wait and watch for now. If it starts falling apart or turning black yank it quick.

Otherwise I'd guess that there is at least some chance it will heal.

similar

i had a similar expierence when going to pick mine up off a fellow reefer he did the same thing. then the anemone split about 2-3 weeks later, now i have two :D just give him some space and give him food if he will eat it, i know mine lost his appetite for a week during the split

lol well - he already split last year when I first got him (her? let's go with him.. it butches up the wussy little fish I have in that tank a bit :D)

HE hasn't gone limp and is actually slightly more expanded than when I first injured him (he's pulled down due to lights off, but hasn't completely closed up either). He also hasn't let go of that darn little shell

I just fed them two days ago - they each got a silverside, so they should be pretty well stocked on the nutrient side.

Ah well - live and learn I guess. Thanks for the late-night responses. One thumbs up, one potential thumbs down. I'll just cross my fingers and ride the wave.

if it re-opened after you ticked it off, you have a better percentage on the heal/split side than the turn black/die side.

still keep an eye on it....

EDIT: my typing sux @ 3AM. :D

Thanks Jay. This morning (what's left of it - I love being away from work :D) the one that was damaged actually is buddied up next to the one that isn't. Weird - he went over and positioned himself right up next to the "healthier" one - it's almost like they're social creatures...

Thanks again for the responses.

Watch it but i think its going to be fine.

Fasinating ,almost like aquatic tribbles.:p
I'm sure the anenome will be fine. There's been a few horror stories of them getting caught in PHs and surviving.
