Do cats and reef tanks mix?

Hi everyone, hoping for your advice. The family is considering getting a cat. I have a 120g mixed reef w/ lots of fish and a 40g brackish with lots of fish - both are in the living room. No one works from home so the cat and fishes will be left to their own devices during the day. Any concern to get a cat with two aquariums? No high value fish or corals to really worry about....
Thanks in advance
Jean

No concerns here I have a high energy bengal she loves to check out what I’m up to with the tanks and I see her looking at the seahorses quite regularly which I find amusing. But I have heard stories of cats getting into tank stuff and messing stuff up so depends on the cat maybe lol.

Had 3 total cats with no issues. Had everything from canopy, mesh netting to nothing on the tank and currently the tank is in the basement where cat has free reign...

I have 5 cats, they pay no attention to the saltwater fish at all. It seems like that they can tell freshwater from saltwater.
I used to have a freshwater shallow planted tank with many small fish in it, the fish were no so lucky.

my cats would watch the tank but not do anything. I think you are good to go. Get a half dozen

I agree with Dong, No issues with saltwater but fresh water is a completely different story

My cats used to drink from the planted freshwater tank and had a few quick sushi while they were at it.

Cats can be pretty curious about aquariums, so there might be some initial interest. But if your tanks are in a safe spot and the cat can’t reach them, it should be fine.
