Do CPR overflows suck? Or is it me?

smcnally

Tankless
Mine always suck air, and I can't get it to stop. I have a powerhead hooked up to it, and that takes care or the air in the overflow. But, it then blows it right into my display. I hate it...I never had these issues with my old U-Tube overflow. I think I'm either going back to a U-Tube or getting my tank drilled.

GET IT DRILLED!!!! I hate my u tube. I've never had problems with siphon but I hate how it looks and it gets algae growth in it over time and slows the flow. So glad I got a RR, and I haven't even put water in it yet :)

I use a cpr overflow...goin' on 2yrs now. No issues...I use a penguin660 in the sump and haven't had any issues. I do have to change the plastic tubing once a yr due to algae growth...but no biggie. Is your powerhead sucking air??

I hate CPR's...used one for a short time....then gave it away...I have heard that the aqualifter pumps do help, though...

I have 2 and the aqua lifters do help but I would never buy another external overflow. I drilled my 75 gal set up and will drill my 125.

I got an aqualifter today for it and my display looks MUCH better with all the bubbles gone. I still hate it though. Maybe I'll see if Scott will drill it for me sometime.

make sure you use the prefilter....I clogged 3 aqualifters even with the prefilters before I finally gave up on them and used the penguin. Did work good for a few months until they clogg tho...
