I have been researching reef safe butterfly fish blogs for a while now and I may be ready to add a pyramid butterfly (If I can find one). Does anyone have experience with these fish in a true reef tank? If so - what do you have?
My pyramid butterfly has been completely reef safe with everything in my tank including maxima clams. Had him(?) for at least 2 years so far and will eat every food offered. Very active fish that is always out swimming front and center.
I had a copperband in my 125 with SPS, LPS, and soft corals. It was a good citizen.
I did not have a clam, though.
There must be people here with copperbands and clams.
I kept a copperband with a few maximas for about 4 years and it was never a problem. That said, from what I have read they vary from individulal fish to fish in terms of their reef-safeness, with at least some picking at corals and or clams.
