Thats pretty much it. Wondering about "common practice".

Well,I guess I'll go first.:p
No, I don't QT snails,crabs or shrimp..ect

I tend to QT everything since the QT tank is always running. Sometimes its just for a day or 2 but sometimes a lot longer.

I QT anything before it does into my display tank, it's not the common practice but it is the best one.

i dont qt anything..... i no i should..... but i don't have a qt tank.....

the more I read here, the more I realize I have SO much to learn....

It's a never ending process. :) The biggest thing to remember is that what works well for one does not necessarily work well for others but there is a lot of experience to be found here and it never hurts to ask, sometimes I look back at some old questions I asked and laugh about them now but if I didn't ask.......

geez, I see people drip acclimate their inverts. I drip acclimate my fish and my urchin and BTA. I have never dripped my snails/hermits. I also have never had any die after introduction. I wonder if I am lucky or if other people are just more cautious. I actually added 8 turbos tonight. They are all hanging out and active.

Why not put them in the QT? can they carry anthing that might hurt the DT.

My drip for snail/crabs is much shorter than that of fish, a little longer for shrimp.

I drip the snail, crabs, shrimp for an hour.
The fish I just keep adding water to the bag periodically(5 ml every 5 minutes for a 1/2 hr)intil a 1/2 full bag is full, then release in QT.
I've heard that it takes snails a long time to adjust.
