does calcium drop during cycling?

i'm about a week back into this hobby, i tought i'd check parimeters mostly for amonia and found calcium at 130ppm. i should let you know i have a 120 w/ 40gal sump i used 80#aragonite 20#live sand and some where around 150#of dead rock, about 40 being in the sump. jay sold me 2 qts.bacteria to get things going. so i've been running for 6 days .here's what i've got:
ca 130
mg 1240
kh 8.9
nh .50
no .50
ph 8.0 it's seems awfully quick to see amonia and nitrite this fast ,and with all that dead rock could that be eating all the calcium? Walt

What are you using for a salt mix?
Calcium only drops when it's used by organisms in the tank.

Why bother checking calc/alk/mag during the cycle? Just check the am/ni/na and watch for the cycle to happen/complete. Then once you start stocking corals you could monitor the others.

You don't list more than one set of #s so it's hard to tell what kind of drop you're experiencing/worried about. Are you sure you did the calc test right? Maybe that's why the number seems low. Which test kit(s) are you using?

Could be a skewed test result for calcium

your're right i gotta leave it be....i'm using tropic marin pro reef salt and a salifert test kit

Yup,you really just need to watch for a spike in ammonia>nitite>nitrate>water change.
Then start testing.
