Drilling old acrylic

testhead1313

Here's lookin' at you
What's the best way to put some ~2" holes in old, possibly brittle acrylic? I'm looking to redo my sump, so would a hole saw be the best? Also... I am looking to borrow someone's hole saw to put 2 ~4" holes through drywall (friggin' landlord will never ask me to move again :D). Does anyone aorund New Bedford have one I could borrow to do this? TIA!
Chris

hole saw is easiest, a router setup with jig is best though i think. just go real slow, should ne no problem with the holesaw. you can use the handheld drill or a drill press.

chris......i have all sizes, and a drill press if you want to try drilling over here, the acrylic that is

Bob, I may take you up on that... A drill press wouldn't work though because I need to drill some holes in one of the baffles. I'm looking at doing the move next Sunday, but I'm still undecided as to what order I'm going to do things. I'm drilling a hole through the wall and putting the 20 gallon in the spare bedroom and the 58 in the living room. Everything will be connected along with the refugium and (hopefully) a new calcium reactor. I'm going to be running the feed and drain lines from the 20 through the hole as well as the Ca reactor feed and some cords from ballasts, etc (I want to split the system up between 2 circuits, because right now, everything is on one). Can I shoot you a call some time this week when I figure out what exactly I'm doing?
Thanks,
Chris

Im around pretty much all week, just let me know when you want to swing by to pick things up.
