Emerald Crab eating acan?

I just went down and looked at the tank under the night lights and saw one of my emerald crabs (which are still slightly red), picking at the edges of my acan.

Do emeralds eat acans? i am confused.

I would assume he is only cleaning (eating algae or detritus) not harming anything; he might be picking at it if it was dying. The only harmful or shall I say destructive thing I have found mine doing is eating my coco worms tube.

I wouldn't doubt it. I once had an emerald crab who had a taste for blastos. He ate nearly an entire healthy colony and after I finally caught him the colony grew back - there's no question that he was munching on healthy tissue.

Yes, I saw one eating an acan lord in my tank a couple times. He ripped a few hunks off, then stopped. The acan was perfectly healthy, right in the middle of the colony. It recovered fine. Luckily the crab never seemed to really develop a taste for them.

That's scary to know. I better keep an eye out of them. I have 4 emerald crabs in my tank. Would hate to have my acans get eaten.

mine tried prying a piece of shrimp from my anenome right after i fed it.

I had one that eat polyps off my stylo. Sits on top of it pulling polyps off and eating it. Off to the fuge it goes.

My first experience with an Emerald crab sucked.....it ate half my Meteor Shower, now he lives in the fuge where there are no coral to be eaten.
