Evaporation from tank has been crazy the last month

Evaporation has been crazy lately. Anybody experiencing the same thing? I'm losing 4 gallons every 3 days in my 60 cube. I have forced hot air which adds to the problem. I also cranked up the humidifier to combat the dry air.

Gallon per day on a Solana!

Evaporation has been crazy lately. Funny i said something to my girlfriend yesterday.

3 gallons a day

Forced hot air, Humidifier is off. Should it also be on???

Im losing about 3 gallons a day in my 90. Much more then in the summer. Cant wait until I can shut the heat off and the air gets more humid so the evaporation slows.

easy 5-6 gal/day here

Same here,going through 20 gallons a week.
I think the wood stove running in the basement is attributing to this.
Anyways, plenty of kalkwasser being injected into the water.

I'm so glad you posted this, I thought it was just me!!! Do you think it has something to do with the air in our houses being so dry? Here is what is even stranger though..I haven't had my skimmer running in like 3 weeks and water is so crystal clear it's crazy.

edited..okay read some other posts..lol..must be the dry air in the house

Ive had a lot of condensation build up on the windows this month from my tank's evap. For a while there it was real bad. Im prolly doing about 5g/wk of evap on my 60cube...maybe a little more.

I do about 5 gallons every 2-3 days if I'm lucky...

Anyways, plenty of kalkwasser being injected into the water.

My thoughts exactly... More kalk means helping out that lower winter pH :D

stevedola- I was in the same boat, TONS of condensation up until a few weeks back. It got so bad that I was having mold problems. Now, I guess the air got even drier and just absorbs the moisture because there is no more condensation and the air in the house is very dry.

I dont know how much I am losing, since it all comes out of a big blue drum, but it is probably around 3-5g a day on my 90.

3g a day on my 90 with wood stove and 10g plus in the humidifier on high.

The dry air sucks up the moisture from the water like sponge. That's why it's called evaporation. The air will keep sucking it up as long as the water is available but I have yet to see clouds in my house.

watch out for that rain cloud forming in your living room
