Feeding tips

I recently read that fish should be fed throughout the day to simulate their natural eating habits. Until now I have been feeding once a day with the exception of a veggie clip.

I am now going to switch to two smaller feedings, does anyone have any other suggestions for feeding? I am also thinking of adding a fuge to let a pod population grow for more continuous feeding.

What do you folks do?

i feed every 2 days also

I feed every day around 4. It's almost like they know it is dinner time....

I too feed every 2-3 days, however, like us fish, would likely be better off if they grazed all day..............less waste with more numerous small feeding

I feed my fish once every 2-3 days. I like to keep them a little bit hungry so that they go after the algae on the glass and rocks...etc.

i feed 4 times a day for a total of 4-6 cubes in 24 hrs (160g total system volume), and in general i feed way more than most. Imho you have to feed not starve your reef. ........but you have to have proper biological filtration and equipment to handle the extra load this makes.

My reef has never been happier, so i guess there is more than 1 way to skin a fish

for my fish I feed every other day, at different times of the day
for my bta I feed 1x/week other days they eat what floats by
I feed corals 1x per week with coral food & 1x per week spot feed on some
all this is done is very small quantities

I have a school of anthias so I feed all of my fish twice a day. Once with flake and the other with either Mysis, brine, marine cuisine and I mix in some blood worms for my ytrigger every other day or so but I always mix it up so they get a variety of frozen food.
Also, I feed my tang some nori on a clip once a week.

I feed everyday at around 6, as soon as the Hailides turn off... coupled with that i feed 2 shhets of nori, one in the morning and one in the evening... I have 4 tangs, one angel, 2 clowns and a Mandarin, the zoas, tube anem, and bta pick up all excess.. that's just what I do.

I only have Three Fishes so I feed a half cube everyday, RBTA every two weeks, and corals once a week...

I can't get my kole tang to eat the seaweed or whatever that crap is. Any recommendations on brand or should I just head to the sushi section at the grocery store?

I feed 5 times a day. A sheet of nori in the morning followed by dry food at 11AM. At 2:30PM they get 10 cubes of frozen (unrinsed) mysis. Then dry food at 5 and again at 8PM. The dry feedings are done by an Eheim automated feeder which has helped a lot. It's only the nori and mysis that I have to do myself.

WoW! How big is your tank? Hows your nitrates? I wish I could feed my fishes like that

Tank is 427gal. Total volume around 550. Biopellets and an algae turf scrubber handle the nitrates and phosphates. There are at last count 43 fish in the tank.

5-7 times a day here. Combined with good flow and filtration, you can feed a lot by breaking the feedings up in to smaller portions and feeding more often. Feeding all at once puts a really big strain on the system and reduces stability IME.

i feed 3 to 4 times a day minimum... i also feed nori daily on top of that... i do not feed any frozen foods anymore whatsoever... i have 2 purple tangs that are taken incredibly good care of... tangs should be fed daily, and better yet, able to graze throughout the day as they do in the wild...

So if not frozen then raw or dry?
