I am slowly switch to metal halide for winter. I almost forgot how good LPS and zoas looks under metal halide. Kinda not wanting to switch back to led in summer but the heat is too much.

Skip winter all together. (Dropped my phone sorry). What do you run for LEDs right now that you feel that need to change back and forth?

Dong heats his house with metal halides.

IMO, metal halide is still the king of reef lighting, the draw back is the heat they produce when the weather is warm.
In winter time, it is the best solution.

I still keep the most prized coral under metal halide all year round and keep frag tanks under led to reduce heat.

For LED, I run AI hydra 26/52/Sol and Maxspect razor.

since movin my tank to my sun room there is one light I have found that can't be beat . That big yellow ball in the sky . The entire tank does not get full sun and what does is only for a few hours of the day . but those corals getting direct sun have exploded in growth .

In my old house, the SPS reef got morning sunlight and early afternoon sunlight, SPS grow out of water.
