Flame angel or not?

Just curious what is everyones opinion on flame angels, also do they get ich easily like tangs? And do they destroy corals? I have mostly lps and a few sps, thanks

I have one and it is a model citizen. It has never bothered any of my corals and it has never had ich. They are nice looking fish my daughter calls ours grill because of the markings on its sides.

It will destroy your coral, i got first hand experience. It just a matter of time before it start nipping. Mine was a great citizen for 3 years then one day it just went on rampage.

+1 I have one now and he was fine for about a year. He started nipping at corals and it was a while before I saw him do it. I thought they were just melting. He ate lots of my rare zoa collection. Had to remove a bunch of them from my main display. He is now working on my clam. Wish I never introduced him in the first place. Now that he's in the tank it almost impossible to remove him without tearing it all down.... DON'T DO IT! :)

It seems a lot of the dwarf angels are hit or miss when it comes to coral nipping.
I have a Coral Beauty that I've had for years that used to nip Nepthea in my tank.
But,it's been a model citizen now for the last 3 years.

My favorite colorful reef-safe fish, that also happens to not need a whole lot of room, is the Royal Gramma. I love mine. Otherwise there are a number of wrasses that are nice looking, like say a McCosker flasher wrasse.

you want to be safe safe ..a pair of fancy clowns .a leopard wrasse

It eats crustaceans which sometime considered as 'reef' so be caution.

Mine dont bother any hermit, shrimp or snails.

I love Angelfish and I have a coral beauty and flame angel in my mixed reef. They are nippers always seeking algae and such that they can occasionally nip at corals but in my experience they do not eat corals and do not specifically go after them and if your corals are all healthy then in my experience they would be fine but there are many people that will say NO WAY!! Maybe it depends on the fish, the parameters, the environment, feedings not sure but I will always have angels even if they nip at my corals occasionally

I really liked the Mystery Wrasse I had. Very colorful and always out and about. At night it would sleep in the same hole and 'web' itself in. Never saw it bother any CuC or corals.

I have one and for the most part he doesn't touch and of the CUC. I did catch him the other day go after a snail. I came back later to see his belly looked pretty full. I am pretty sure he had a nice snail dinner.

Uhupong I ended picking up a Melanurus wrasse its awesome I will post a picture later on

Hey. congrat ! you wont disappoint. Please note that this wrasse sleep and hide under sandbed, so be careful when you dont see him and starting moving around rocks.

Agreed, definitely a colorful and active fish. Mine hid for a couple of days before he actually was up and around the tank.
