Flame Angel W/ ich

I think my flame angel has ick. pinprick size white spots. My question is should I pull him out of the 120 and move him to a 10 gallon QT and treat with copper, or should I leave him in the main tank and dose all food with garlic and try to treat that way? Any suggestions?

IMO the most effective way to get rid of it would be to put the angel in the QT tank and either dose with copper or run hypo. My personal experience has proved to be running hypo is the best way to go. I have tried the other methods of soaking food in garlic and such and I have saw ich go away slightly on the fish but never had it completely disappeared. Although Some people have had luck with the garlic method.

If your fish does indeed have ich then ich will remain present in your tank as long as their are fish inhabitants there. So even if you cure the ich now on the flame there is always the possibility once back in the main tank that the angel can get it again along with your other fish inhabitants. The only way to completely get rid of ich from your tank is to remove all fish and leave your tank empty for 4-6 weeks. If ich does not have a host to live off of it will go through its life cycle and eventually die. If you dont do this you are risking a an ongoing battle with ich which can become very fustrating.

When I had my outbreak last year. I set up a 30g QT tank and removed all of my fish (at the time I only had 3 fish) and ran hypo on them, and left my tank empty for 6 weeks. Since then I have not had any signs of Ich in my tank (knock on wood).

When I discover a fish with ich I lower salinity and raise temp up a bit and turn on my UV... I don't have a QT and I've never lost a fish to ich... I think trying to catch it, throwing it in a QT will just stress it out more which just bolsters ich, plus you're going to have to break your tank down to get that fish out...

On the other hand if the ich isn't eliminated it just gets worse and worse over time.

seacem's Metronidazole w/ focus works great (mixed with garlic guard for palatability). Especially when used in conjunction w a good uv sterilizer (uv is clutch if ich is persistant). I thaw some mysis add the 2 medications (powders), mix and refreeze. I like using a piece of plastic grid to make a blob of medicated food into a bunch of even, square doses. feed as usual.
Always good to take a multi pronged approach
as said:
-raising temp & dropping salinity(slightly) cannot hurt
-also;adding neon gobys and cleaner shrimp can't hurt
-do everything possible not to stress the fish (check all w.parameters)
some strains of cryptocaryon are VERY stubborn some are easy.
nip it in the bud fast; don't wind up an ich "expert" the hard way.belieeeeeve Me!!

Well to add to the drama, or take away from it, I came home from work and the ich spots seem to be gone, but he seems to have popeye. I have no clue how to treat this poor little guy. Help please!

Flames can be tricky, I'd give it a couple of days, let it settle in and get use to it's new surroundings... make sure it is eating, let us know how it is making out..
