has anney one kept a flame angle with anney success. i really like the fish but i want to get coral for my tank and it says it may eat coral. is there anney way around this or anney way to tell if teh fish will eat coral before i buy it.
They eat SPS, LPS and clams. If you have a soft coral tank, you are fine to have a flame angel. I have one in my soft coral tank and the color is amazing under 14K Pheonix bulb.
I have a flame in an sps dominated tank. I got him off a hobbyist who had him in a fish only tank for 2 years. I have had him for 2.5 years with no problems.
These fish had a reputation for being cyanide caught. Be wary when purchasing. Your mileage may vary.
ya i only have a couple of small corals and i would probbley try to buy one that Skipton's has in stock so i can see if they can feed it and see if it will eat. is there Anny way to tell if it will eat coral.
No. There's no way to tell. Could happen the day you bring it home. Could happen in two weeks. Could happen in two years. Maybe it'd never happen. There's no way to tell.
o that stinks i really like the fish but i don't want him eating all my coral. and if say he does eat the coral how much does he eat. i mean hes not a big fish and if i keep him well feed he shouldn't get to hungry right?
It sounds as if you really want a flame but as mentioned above there is no way to tell what will happen once you introduce it into your system. It is easy to say "what if I do this" but at the end of the day there is no certainty either way as to whether it will pick at your corals.
Having been give the above mentioned feed back it is now up to you whether you want to take the risk.
I have a Potter's Angel I got from a fellow member who was getting out of the hobby and he leaves all my sps, lps and clam alone. Not sure if they are all this well behaved, but would definitely recommend one if you can find one.
