found mermaid fan on the beach--safe?

evening, all! i was walking my dog on the beach today (Swampscott) and i found a perfect mermaid's fan plant lying on the beach. i've always wanted one for my reef tank, but never wanted to pay to have it shipped. would it be safe to put in my 20g reef tank? inhabitants are 2 oc. clowns, a firefish, a tiny green banded goby, snails, hermits, and 6 corals. my instinct is screaming NO but i'm wondering if anyone has ever done this around here. would it live at the higher temp (77 degrees?)

i'm also in the process of setting up a 30g seahorse tank that i plan to be a planted tank kept at 75 degrees. is there a way i could save/quarantine this plant until i get that set up going? right now it's in a small container with some salt water. any advice would be helpful--thanks!

LOL just read on Live Aquaria that mermaid fans come from the CARIBBEAN. so it must not be one; i will upload a pick and see if anyone can identify it.
