Free Dendrophylia

Piscevore

elsewhere
It grows all over the wrecks in florida, I had to pose with some, even though it is a crappy photo of the animal itself. This is midday, in about 100 feet of water, below the deck of the Hollyhock (renamed the Captain Dan), off the coast of Fort Lauderdale Florida.

100 feet of water! How much light was there down there?

You'd be surprised at the amount of light at 100'
Sometimes you can't even tell you are that deep

Quite Right Dave, on this day there was a ripping current, and 4-6 foot rollers... the current was a spin off from the gulf stream, sapphire blue, and clear as crystal. I jumped with the Divemaster from the boat to hook onto the wreck, and the ships captain said he saw us swim all the way down.

There was a lot of light. I brought a flashlight with me for penetrating the wreck, but outside it was very well light *(not always the case)*

You sure they were dendros & not orange cup coral or what others call "sun coral" ?

No, I'm not sure. They all had sweepers out, it was pretty amazing, and it was noon time. I was under the impression sun polps were a nighttime feeder?? but again, not sure. Do dendro's even grow in florida?

dendro's grow in every ochen even in colder water. and dendros can have smaller polyps. it is allmost imposibul to tell
