Any thoughts if I should use a pressure float switch or solenoid valve(via a electronic float switch) as the high water fail safe. The topoff will be coming from a kalkwasser saturated container that is higher than the sump. I was thinking that if Kalk is running thru the float switch it would be better to have it open and close on a daily basis making it a better choice to control the level. And use the electronic float switch/solenoid valve as a fail safe.

Any good sources for float valves and a solenoid valves (12V maybe)?

Running kalk through WILL clog up a mechanical float valve annoyingly often. I've tried it.. The good thing about that was it would clog shut, but it was still constantly clogging.

With electronic switches you can install a double switch so it has a low on switch and a high off switch. That might be a good solution. You can get a complete set up like this from http://www.autotopoff.com/products/DS1/index.htm for $50, or you can get the parts seperately and assemble yourself.
