Great DIY article on recharging DI resin

Some people believe the most economical way to purify water is to skip using an RO filter and only use DI. To do this they use two large DI cartridges and keep the two anions separate. Then they recharge the resins and can reuse them a number of time before they are spent. Without the RO filter they are using a large amount of resin and save a lot of money.

Personally I go through so little over the course of a year it just wouldn't make sense to recharge.

In that article the guy was actually recharging the mixed bed resin DI. He seperates the 2 , cations and anions during the recharge process.

I just started using DI that I added to my Ro system. Recharging was just a little research before hand. I have no idea how much resin I will be using up yet.

I doubt you will go through much resin since your RO only TDS is zero.

Yeah, you can separate them, but the people that don't use RO filters and count on DI to remove everything usually go with 2 separate cartridges so they don't have to. I've had my RO/DI running for about 1-1/2 years and am just getting around to changing my DI resin. That's on a WaterGeneral that has two small DI cartridges, maybe 18oz total.

Nice find Jennifer. Thumbs up on the info post.
