Great turn out, great talk and good pizza.
Good frags from the speaker too. I wish he is closer to Boston.

i agree, he was funny nice to see young people care about what they are doing

:( Wish we could have gone, what time did it get over?

Gina, it got over around 1:30. The speaker was good and even though I dont have any Goniopora, i still learned a few things. At the meeting, we were given 15% off coupons to Tropic Isle, so quite a few people went there after the meeting. I bought some rocks and saved $8.00!! And yes.....there was plenty of pizza! Thanks to everyone that I got frags from, they look great in my tank.

I wish we could have made it. We had to work!:( But I hope to give my LAST WORD at work and they I will have Sat off all the time:D I can not wait!!!

It was a pretty good turnout considering the weather was absolutely beautiful today.

Many thanks to Joe, Paul and Bette and all of the club officers and volunteers for putting together another great meeting.

Great meeting today. It was nice to hear of new projects involving kids in the hobby. I had just copied and put this quote on my tank that I copied from p. 8 in the Borneman coral book:

"Reefs, like forests, will only be protected in the long term if they are appreciated. Aquariums, both public and private, are playing a crucial role in this. They are helping to create interest for the general public, and it is not unreasonable to suppose that this interest, once embraced by a whole generation, will result in an active desire to conserve."

I think that he spoke to this nicely. It is something that we all have to think about.

I have been working as a Roots and Shoots leader with Dr.Jane Goodall whom I had lunch with in the Spring. Our group is looking at the changes in coral reefs around the world and why they are changing. She is an amazing person who, in her 70's, has more energy than most of us. She had just gotten back from China and since I had been sent there by my school system in April of 2000, we had much to talk about. She also can make some amazing chimp sounds. (We'll have to teach her some pistol shrimp noises or the grunts from some of our fish).

I applaud Justin's upcoming work with kids in getting them to look at their own questions and to answer some of them doing controlled experiments with corals. I also had a chance to talk with him about some possible sources of funding and about the goniopora that we have in our tank. A very productive time.

Great group today, some nice sharing of frags and information and good pizza.
A good way to spend a Saturday morning. Thanks to all who made it happen.

Thank you Seahorse.

I got out of work at almost 2, that was early than for a Sat. Work is always getting in the way of my social life!

Glad to hear you all had a great time! There are still so many of you that we have not yet had the chance to meet, including all of the new people here. Hopefully August. :)

We have one Goniopora and I'm pretty sure it's dying. That sounds like a meeting we could have learned from.

PIZZA!!!!!!

It was a nice meeting. I actually was able to speak to quite a few people today, without chasing a toddler around.
