In our 29gal tank, we have a pair of Percula clowns, a yellow headed Jawfish, and a green clown goby. They've all been established for about a year. I run an in-tank overflow/pre-filter box on a HOB AquaC Remora S skimmer.
This morning, I found that the Goby had died and her body was trapped between the overflow box and the tank (there's a 3-5mm space where the overflow attaches to the tank wall via four large suction cups).
Any idea what may have happened here? No obvious signs of trauma to the fish. I can't tell if she passed away and then floated behind the overflow intake or somehow got stuck and passed away there.
This may just be a fluke, but I'd love any advice or analysis of what might have happened here. She was one of our favorite fish and it was a terrible morning.
