hair algea

I pull it out by hand. I reach in pull a handfull out, then dip my hand in clean water before putting my hand back in the tank everytime. After doing this for a while i would do a water change. I did this every few days and I had almost all of it gone, and I had a lot, in about a week.

How old is your tank? If you have a lot of HA I would thi k you might have a phosphate problem. Do u use ro water? How much do u feed? What size tank, and what is your bioload?

Hair algae traps detritus, good tank maintenance and frequent water changes.

Take a turkey baster or power head and blow off the rocks in you tank right before you do a water change.

Manual removal does help. But if the tank is not in order it just comes right back, just like having a fuge as part of your display tank

Knowing your tank parameter would also help in giving specific advice to fight your problem.

id nip it at the bud and take out the source, the nutrients, try some GFO in a media reactor and watch it faaaade away...
