Hammer not looking too good

MarkO

...
Hammer coral I've had for about 3 years is not showing good polyp extension.
Not sure what could be causing this.
Water parameters:
T: 77º
density: 1.026
pH: 7.8-8.1
kH: 13.1
CA: 400
Mg: 1270 (last tested April 9)

Recently, my tank has been cool, lights on = 75.5º, lights off: 79.0º+/-

Also, a green birds nest fell on top of the hammer, but the GBN seemed to suffer more. That happened about 2 weeks ago.

Skimmer's been offline about 10 days.

Only other notable changes is a creep upwards of kH and CA since April 9th readings of 10.3 and 370 respectively (increased bubblecount). I've also slowed the addition of Kalk (pH is maybe a tenth lower than previous).

Any thoughts?

Nothing obvious problematic, but why would you want your skimmer off? Skimmers help a lot in keeping a tank's water in equilibrium with atmospheric air.

My own fault. I lent the pump to a neighbor who gave it to his daughter during the flood. Haven't gotten it back yet.

Your temperature swing is pretty big. Try to narow the gap.
Your KH is really high.13dkh? The highest I would go is 10dkh.

My Bubble Coral is experiencing the same symptoms.

CA around 400
KH around 8

Could it just be a seasonal thing? Maybe natural?

what is your temperature during the day (and I dont mean when you get home, I mean at noon)

My temps have been running high. The AC hasn't been turned on yet in the building. Tomorrow is the day. So usually around 80-82

I prefer my tanks 74-76 ...

I run my tank at 80 at least and 82 at most. It's not so much about the tempurature but the range. The narrower the swing the better.

I've turned down the CO2, so alk should lower. Day temp on my tank is about 76º as of late. (late spring is mid winter for my tank).
Hammer still looks healthy, just not getting the extension I'm used to seeing.

I'll do a 20% wc tomorrow and see what happens.
Checked Nitrates, thought they could be high, but still register <1 (undetectable).
Also, my frogspawn looks fine if that means anything.
