hatching brine shrimp

does anyone hatch their own brine shrimp?
I'm using a quarantine 1 gal tank and was thinking of switching to an inverted soda bottle to make it easier to draw from
I was wondering if anyone fed them to keep them alive and not feed all at once to my tank
if so, what do you feed with? how long can you keep them before it all goes south?

just ordered the hatchery dish, didn't even know this thing existed
no air pumps, heat, just a good light
looks to be much better for collection & hatching
do you have any experience with the hatchery dish?

Yes I use it all the time when I have small batches of fry to feed - like banggais. Works really well. Just harvest as they hatch.

I just received my brine shrimp hatching disk & a ton of eggs
can't wait to see how easy this is
no air pumps, soda bottles spilling over, extra equipment
just a special dish with a very fine grade sieve
also the collector cup has no shells to strain out

I will update when I see a successful hatching
if you are interested, check out the link (about 1/2 way down the page is the dish on the link)

i think when baby brine have been hatched for too long they tend to lose thier nutritional value because they use up thier yolk sack

true, but this allows for uncapsulated brine when you need
no muss - no fuss
we will see when they hatch

when toying around with hatching brine to feed (supplement to flake/pellet) a young juvenile clown, I used a large clear plastic dunkin donuts ice coffee cup. I put the cup inside a 1 gallon white bucket and clipped a shop light with a daylight PC bulb to it. It was aerated with an airstone. The light provided some heat. The white bucket reflected the light and made it super bright. Suprisingly worked quite well. But... only good for small one use batches.
