I added on to the thread over at reef central. But basically has anyone used one of those nano micro chillers and how did they work? Anyone have one for sale?

I can't get a/c, not putting sump in basement (its a small tank), temp over 86.

I've got fans in canopy, will add to my cabinet, will run lights at night, what else can I do? A big chiller is out of the question, I just don't have the $$ right now, nor a place to put it.

maybe a fan blowing acrosss the surface of the water.
I managed to stay constant at 82 today with a 4" icecap blowing on the surface of my sump.
Still looking for an AC..........actually still broke.....

A lot of people freeze 2l bottles & put them in the tank to cool it off. Some use RO/DI water & then use it to top off. You would need to make sure bottle was clean.
I never fill the bottle all the way, need room to expand. I also leave the cap off (but make sure it won't tip over in freezer).

I did what Scuba Dave suggested last summer on my 90 gallon, it worked really well. I had 4 bottles. Dropped in 2 in the sump in the Am before work and the other 2 in the afternoon when I got home. Not ideal, but better than 85 or more in the tank.

I have frozen Deionized water into blocks and added it to the sump in the AM as makeup water along with tank water frozen in soda bottles filled 3/4 full.
