heater recommendations prz

i've been using an old visitherm submersible that's given me about 15 years of solid, reliable use. consequently i don't remember the last time i bought a new heater and have no idea what the better heaters on the market are nowadays.

i think it's about time i retired old betsy before she kills everything in my tank, but i've heard so many horror stories about heaters sticking on and frying tanks i've been reluctant to change. so what's the best heater around?

this for a small tank btw, so like 100w max

I've got some Jager and Aqueon Pro heaters. *knock on wood* No problems in the ~5 months I've been using them. These range from 100W up to 250-300W.

jagers i've heard nothing but good things about

anyone know if they recently got bought out or something by eheim? or has eheim made them all along?

I have 3 of the Fluval E-Series heaters that i have been running for the past 3 years with no problems.

I've heard getting a heater with an external controller and external probe is the way to go for longevity and to prevent them sticking on. I personally went with the JBJ 300 watt titanium w/ external controller and probe and love it.

best heaters on the market are finnex titanium heaters. metal construction (reef safe of course), super reliable,. use an external controller and you are good to go. no glass heater with internal thermal gauge will be as reliable.

now that I mention em, I have two lightly used 300W for sale right now, are small (like 10") but strong. Git em!

appreciate the sales pitch lol, but it's like a 12 gal system

i was looking at those earlier and they look nice, and surprisingly not really any more expensive than any other decent heater. might end up going that way, thanks guys
