HELP! Attaching a green tree coral??

Jill & Brian

Reef Hiatus
I recently acquired a green tree coral (thanks stevenp!) that was not attached to any rock. Today marks the second time in less than a week that the little guy went missing from his post on a rock. From Steve's advice based on his other green tree coral, I drilled a hole in the rock and attached the coral using a toothpic through the base of the coral. This method is seemingly not working for this piece :(

I have two questions.
1. should I use another toothpick, an elastic, glue, gum, spit, tar or otherwise to attach him?
2. how long should he take to attach to the rock?

This is one of my first corals, and the first that i have not gotten on a rock. (I have a bunch of xenia, some zoos, and some monti digita that all came on rock) They all seem to be doing pretty well. Any advice would be appreciated!!!

Thanks!
-Brian

Use a plastic toothpick, pierce it at the base of the green tree and then glue the toothpick to the rock.

Thanks for the suggestions! I am going to try a plastic toothpick. I was using a wooden one, and I think it was swelling, causing the coral tissue to tear. This will be the third toothpick, I hope the little guy survives it :o

Wish me luck!

As mentinoned above use a plastic toothpick and glue both sides of the toothpick to the rock. This may not work for all 'green tree corals', but will for some.

Brian, What also worked for me with a GTC, is to use some monofilament fish line and a big sewing needle, poke one thread through the base, and tie the monofilament around the rock. It attached to the rock and I never had to remove the monofilament.
