Hey everyone,
Im planing on making a purchase soon and i wanted some information on kind of a rare shrimp. I have seen this shrimp on sale at that famous Dr's place and I couldnt find much info on him. I'm hoping someone out there knows some info on this speicies. About the only thing i found was that they have a "commensal" relationship with sea cukes. Im hoping that its not the type of relationship that harliquins have with echinoderms if you follow my drift. I have a black sea cuke in my tank for over three years, he's fat, he's healthy, and if i could get a symbiotic relationship with the shrimp and the cuke then this would rock. any info helps

thanks in advance

A "commensal" relationship is one between two (or more) creatures where one benefits and the other is not significantly harmed or helped. My guess is that the shrimp will eat food stuck to the cucumber.

The relationship between a Harlequin shrimp and echinoderms is not commensal. :eek:

lol yea harliquins dont make for a cool partner. So i guess it would be safe to add the little guy when i got to make my purchase then?:D Great almost everything in my tank has to have a friend

Clown===> Anemone
Goby ===> Pistol Shrimp
Cuke ===> Emperor Shrimp

all i need is a pair of neon gobies and some fish to clean and im all set hehe

From what I've seen of cucumbers, they don't make such cool partners either.
At least they don't eat you.

That's a pretty awesome creature. Good luck with it!

I think im gonna give it a go, unless anyone sees why i shouldnt. Under their listing it says easy to maintain, so maybe it will take meaty foods too. who knows:cool:
