I have a 30 gal.breeder with no sump just a hob penguin 400 filter and a diy skimmer with a very light load. I'm looking for help choosing a skimmer, so far this is what I'm looking at Reef Octopus classic 100, Hydor slim skim, Ghost desktop, and Aqua C Remora. Are any of these any good or does is there any other suggestions.

I had a aqua c on a 55 gallon tank and worked well with upgraded pump

First, I think if you could convert you setup to use a sump, then you should it , good for the long run. and a lot more choice on protein skimmers.

During my early reef days, I had used a few hang on tank protein skimmers including the Reef Octopus and AquaC. I think the aquamaxx (url provided below) performances much better 1000% far better than the AquaC Remaro. The reef Octopus is also very good, the same as the Aquamax

Good luck

I've had sumps in the past and i'm not a fan of all that plumbing that's why on this setup I've gone sump less. That aquamaxx is rated for 90g up to 175g. I only have a 30g. plus i'm not willing to pay $320 for a skimmer on a 30g. The Reef Octopus is rated for 60g up to 100g so I guess i'll be dropping that. I maybe ordering the Tunze Comline DOC Protein Skimmer 9004 because of the overall reviews on it and it's rated for 15g up to 65g.
