Did you get it like that or did it deteriorate while you've had it? Did something happen in your tank? How about some water chemistry numbers...

That stinks Lam. I would agree with the dip and maybe add additional flow onto it. How long have you had the piece and anything happen recently?

Thank you for reminding me about dipping! Apparently, I wasn?t thinking. The necrotizing tissue appears to have halted. I am hoping for the best.

I am holding the brain for a friend. It was actually becoming very happy in my tank. The peripheral edges came to me dead. The swollen/bubbling white/brown tissue necrosis appeared 2 days ago. Two things changed recently in my tank.

First was a water main break that destroyed my RO filter cartridge. It was replaced 5 days ago. I think I caught it in time.

Second was a recent re-aquascaping in which I removed the majority of my liverock from the tank. I am sure the disturbance of the sand bed and dead/dieing sponges/organisms from the LR didn?t help.

Lam, that does look pretty bad, your best bad may to be fragging the thing, seperating all the dying tissue from the healthy. Possibly using epoxy on the dying tissue could stop it from receding more.

That's what I was hoping someone would say. But more importantly "how??"

I've never fragged a brain before. If the tissue continues to recede when I get home. I might have to try something like you said...epoxy...

Hopefully Greg will chime in about fragging it, but my guess would be less than simply dremeling the skeleton. Looking at the picture again, it really looks like epoxy might be the way to go. dremeling through that may be tough, I don't own a dremel though, so, maybe it wouldn't be.

High tank temps is what did mine in.

Scott, when did your tank temp rise? It has been so cool for awhile, unless you think that just triggered it.
