i have a small 3 gallon nano that has 2.5 pounds of live rock in it in my basement and its been filtering for a real long time and i finally got some money so i bought a hermit and 3 snails for it but i forgot to buy a heater for it when i was out
will the snails and hermits live without a heater, the water is room temp
please respond as soon as possible
thanks

What is room temp in your basement? Anything above 70 or so should be ok.

they may make it, but you'll need a heater. i had hermits & nassarius snails live from my tank crash when the temp in the house was 40 degrees for 2 days with no electricity.

they should be OK overnight, but not long term

Alex, you probably want the heater. Stop being so cheap :D

Also, try to avoid temperature fluctuations of more than 2-3F/day. So, if the tank is currently 60F, raise it 2F/day up to ~75F.

That said, my baby seahorse tank had no heater for a couple months (~62-65F) and the handful of small breed Nassarius in it are still alive - depending on the exact specie of Nassarius, 60F may be within their normal range.
