How long can a cyano outbreak last?

We've raised the Alk and PH is 8.2. All the water tests are good. Calcium is at 460ppm. The cyano is still there. How long before it peters out? It's going on 3 months......

I had it in my tank for awhile. I put more flow over the sand bed and on my next water changed siphoned as much out as i could. It was gone the next week. Good flow is the key, so it doesnt have a chance to grab onto anything.

My water tested fine also. Someone told me that i wasnt seeing any phosphates because the algea was consuming it so quickly.

How much Cyano are we talking about?

1 big patch, approx. 5"x5" and some 1" disks here and there. Not the end of the world bad, but bad enough it bugs me.

Mark I used the Red Slime Remover product and it was COMPLETELY gone in 2-3 days. Not a trace! No losses and no obvious adverse affects.
