How long did the T5 bulb last??

I've noticed a few people posting about replacing their T5 bulbs. How long did they last before you decided they needed replacing?? I've been running my T5s for about a yr now and don't think they need replacing. I know according to SLS and IC that the actinics and blue plus bulbs are suppose to last upto 2yrs overdriven and the sun bulbs about 1.5 yrs. Just trying to get some actual data instead of the advertised propaganda.

Most of my customers are replacing at 1 yr and seeing a difference.. they are still flourescent lamps. Remember when they said PC's would last 14 months when they first came out? I've replaced in-store at a bit over a year and noticed a difference. I think 2 yrs is too long.

Thanks Jeremy...I recently broke one and put the spare in. I didn't notice any huge difference. I know they say if the bulbs are well cooled...can make a huge difference. I'm just wondering since the bulbs are still real blue and floures(sp??) well still, that I'm doing a disservice to the corals in any way other than what I think looks good to my eyes.

Hi Andy,
I replaced my recently after 12 months. I did this because I was already taking the fixture down and taking it apart to replace the MH DE bulbs - so why not do them both at the same time? I am also a believer in replace them sooner rather than later.

Actually, I changed the type of actinic bulb and really noticed a difference in the fluorescence . .. I put the Actinic 03 in this time. Really nice.

Blue Plus

Actinic 03

Let us know what you decide!

Thanks again Paula. I was thinking about changing one of the blue plus out for the actinic on the next bulb change. I think I will run my old ones abit longer...
