How much flow for 10 gal nano? advice needed

moving from my nano 6 to a 10 and looking at inline pumps. The Quiet One 1200 flows 296 gph with an adjustable flow. is that too much for a 10 gal that will use the SCWD to alternate the flow to create a wave effect?

I have a Maxi-Jet 1200 in my 10gal tank. I have to aim it at some bare LR otherwise it is too powerful. If i aim it at the glass it either shoots up or down, creating waves or moving the substrate. I would go with 2 smaller powerheads to really get nice flow going.

I looked at some flow charts for the SCWD and 300 GPH going in will = 220 going out. Couple that with an inline heater, 2ft of tubing and a nano canister filter and I think i'll get flow down to 180-200 gph. That should be enough to give good flow but not enough to blow the substrate around . I guess i could always add a flow valve in line too. The inline pump is 296 gph max and it has flow control. I have no idea what you can dial it down to though.
