I am wondering why nobody want leather corals

I have seen many beautiful leather tanks but it seems no one wants to buy leather coral. On the other hand, people have to resist the temptation of those pesky pulsing xenia.

I love leathers! They just never seem to be fully happy in a Sps dominant tank. At least for me they're not.
I had a tyree Neon green toadstool that was awesome and adjusted to life surrounded be sticks! But I sold it :(

I have 6 leathers in my 60g cube, all from you Dong, and i love them. Just not enough room for anymore otherwise i'd get more :-)

The toadstool currently hosts my tomato clown pair~>

I love them as most of my tank is softies. Moving into SPS but will keep some of them.

Most of the TOTM on RC are SPS dominated reefs, but most of my oversea visitors were drawn to the giant toadstool I have and ignored my SPS DTs.

One of the FAQ I got from oversea visitors when I introduced my prized SPS reefs to them is:
hmmmm, do they move?

A little bit off topic, another FAQ from those potential investors is:
Are they edible?

WTF, it really cracked me up every time.

That's funny, they want to invest but have no clue haha
I think people only end up getting one or two leathers and they are so hardy and grow so well it's all they ever need
I love tyree toadstools and used to have one the size of a dinner plate in my last tank.
My new one isn't quite there yet, it's like the size of a golf ball but will get there

It's the lack of designer names / appeal. Tyree toadstools were news, but not anymore.....

I also have a good size toadstool in my tank that I love. My clown also hosts in it. Reason I don't buy more leathers is that they take up quite a bit of room that can be taken up by much more colorful and interesting coral, such as SPS.

That is a riot. I prefer LPS and softies. They seem to have more character than sps to me. I love my tyree watching them extend polyps is so cool. I have a couple sps. They look like colorful sticks so far.

I love my leathers.... even if my singularia is threatening to climb out of the tank...and my duncans and toadstool have ocassional "spats"...

I like my leathers: toadstools cabbage leather, kenyas. i like the pesky pulsing xenias and waving hands, even though they need pruning like every two weeks. I love the movement, but its hard to get my hands on the colorful ones.... green devils hand green trees tyree toads... I think theres some orange softies but I dont know the names. Wish those were more common. I keep many SPS too at the top of the tank. Has anyone really experienced bad chemical warefare problems in mixed tanks? what are the symptoms? ive never noticed issues personally, but my tank is not very filled in.

And what countries are the overseas visitors from? I always think of the SPS dominated zeovit Euro tanks when I think of "overseas tanks"

I think leathers are great; but they're not as cool if they don't have their tendrils out, which means that for a lot of folks water quality will be an issue.

Also, they grow pretty quickly and don't have the 'wow' factor of Xenia.

I think part of the appeal of SPS is the challenge. Not everyone can succeed with them. That and the variety of colors and color combinations. The success rate with leathers is much higher. IME people really like the bright green ones or the yellow 'Fiji' leather, it's just that those two grow SOOOO much slower and are much more sensitive than the brown ones.

Yes, my screaming green tree can't eve share the water with a giant toadstool. I have to house the green tree with SPS

Hmmm, i have both, from you. For me so far so good, though i keep them on opposite side's of the tank. Probably too small to get serious yet. Xenia i noticed would kill areas of my german blue digita where ever it rubbed against each other. I need to post pics soon.

my toad stool is over 12 inch in diameter, any other leather in the same system loose chemical warfare.
