I can post! I can post! --- Yet Another Newb...

Greetings everyone from Franklin, MA. I've just gotten into reef keeping and have found BRS to be quite helpful. I kept a 72gal bowfront FW tank for over 10yrs (despite the fact that my wife --- whom I met after I had the tank --- kept nagging about wanting a saltwater tank). I made a comment one day about scratches on the back glass of the tank and how some day I'd like to get another tank. Last Christmas my wife surprised me with a new Oceanic 90gal bowfront. I was psyched. I had just completely re-done my filtering system so everything was humming.

Then, several days after Christmas I came downstairs to find that my fisk were dying --- several at a time. No outward signs. Chemistries were dead-on. Despite my very best efforts just about everyone died. (There are times I think my wife may be an assassin).

To make a long boring story less of the former... I decided that since everyone was dead it was time to make a new start. My wife gets her wish. Saltwater it is! I've been researching and studying earnestly for the last few months as I planned my foray into a 90gal reef tank. I'll post pictures of that build in the next few days.

My live rock arrived on Thursday so I've just strtaed my tank cycle. So far so good.

Where ya' from?

Welcome fellow bowfront owner!!;)

Welcome to the BRS.
I'm just up 495 in Hudson, MA.

90 bow sounds like it'd make a nice reef tank.
Got any plans for what fish and coral you want to keep?

To answer some questions... I'm in Franklin, MA.

I'm totally behind the patience 'thing'. As a testament to that keep in mind that I got my tank in December and have just put the LR in. I've been studying and reading everything I can find step-by-step. I'm trying to do everything as right as possible from the start so I don't have that 'if-only-I-had...' moment. I had my share of those in the FW days.

Not really sure what I plan as far as livestock goes. Mixed reef I guess. My wife has some requests (naturally). I'm open to suggestions.

Welcome to the club.
You've found a great resource for information here.

Wow I read your thread on RC and nice work, I cant wait to see it in the future:D

Sweet looking rock work. Way to go on the plumbing!....Drain into the basement for easy of water changes.....freakin ingenious!

Thanks for the encouragement everyone. It's been a long, slow tedious project so far --- though I have enjoyed all of it. It's quite amazing to have all this time and expense into the project and get jazzed to see a feather duster, pod or bristle worm. It will be fun once the cycle finishes.

Welcome to the club. Sounds like you are well on the way to having a great system. Keep reading...we all continue to learn.
