Once a bubble tip is put into a tank from the wild, do they usually lose their bubble tip qualities. Seems like some lose a bit of color and the poof that they have at first. Mine is now 7 or so months old and is a neon green and white color. Most of the time he doenst have his bubble tips. He is healthy and looks great under the light but doesnt look as he used to.

Bubble tips are a bit of a mystery. There is a ton of speculation, but the facts are very unclear.

Overall changes in color are likely related to lighting.

The bubble tips come and go on all mine when I used to keep bta. Like John said, it's a mystery at this point.

FWIW I have 2 BTA's that used to be one, it split and 1 has incredible bubble tips while the other one has them only sometimes. They are in the same tank so its more of a mystery than you may think.

Yup, I have about 15, all splits from the same original one. Some have bubbles, some have none, and a lot of them have bubbles on one side and not the other at any given time.

Also, when I first got the original, it never showed bubble tips for the first few yrs, now I see bubbles all the time.

HMM WEIRD little ANIMALS huh?
