im never going to order online live stock again

Just curious, is there any kind of "Fishy Anesthetic" which could be used when shipping livestock?

Something to slow down the metabolism of the animal, you know like the drunk driver never gets hurt since hes always the most relaxed?

Just a thought for any potential fish retailers out there, hrmm maybe I should patent this idea!

Oh and I hope the Mandarin pulls through *crosses fingers*

the mandarin looks like it is doing a lot better. so i put it back in my display tank. here is a picture of it

Wow. That is great. you thought he was dead and he is doing ok seemingly now.

I have bought online a bunch of times and never had any problem. While I like to support local retailers, the fact of the matter is that some of us live an hour or more away from the nearest fish store and work weekends and most other times that they are open, so we can't always make it to the LFS.

I live on a private road that is only a few years old and I have nothing but problems with FedEx. They usually can't find my house and send the package back. I have had to go to west Boylston before to pick it up because they tried delivering it 3 times but couldn't find my house and were about to send it back to the retailer. They also deliver packages to my house from another house in town that has the same number but an only kinda similar street name. I now will not use any retailer that uses FedEx or if I have to, I have it shipped to work.

My advice if you use an online retailer. Find one that has a good reputation and return policy. Like John said, take into account holidays and weather. Do a quick check of national weather before you order.

as everybody knows when you order online live stock it needs to be shipped over night. well the past couple of times i have ordered live stock online fed ex always delays my package due to weather in other states. and if live stock dies, guess what, no one wants to be liable for it. so basically you lost all your money and the live stock. today i was suppose to receive a order of live stock from fed ex and once again they delayed it because of bad weather. i called fed ex to see if my package was coming today and they said they don't know. that someone will call me back with more details. so far no one has called me back. i will never buy online again thanks to fed ex being inresponsible and never giving me my package when they are suppose to. i was suppose to get my package overnight by 10am and now who knows if it's even coming today
This is an issue I have never understood if you look into the polices you should be checking the weather before you order. I Have had vendors postpone shipments with bad weather forecasts.
Look to your vendor or take it upon yourself, shipping companies are not choosing to ship with impending weather issues you and your vendor are.

It is like being mad you had to wait all day on a work day for a package when you could have chosen hold for pickup and picked it up any time after 10:30am or paid extra for Saturday pickup.

IME Live Aquaria has excellent refund policy - they have even refunded shipping cost to me.

For FedEx and UPS, I ALWAYS go to my local / nearest hub to pick up package 1st thing in the morning. This saves about 8 hrs, transit as I usually do not get deliveries until evenings. This needs to be arranged before-hand with the vendor (Hold for pick-up).

If you can pay with PayPal, they usually side with the buyer and offer a good level of protection against loss.
