Like Chris said dont bet on it. Its cultured farms opening up so they get to dictate the pricing. I'm sure they have been paying attention to where aussie has been setting there pricing and the increased value. It certainly wont go back to what it was before the ban anytime in the near future.

I was talking with Marty form European Aquatics in Malden the other day and he was telling me that he talked with his distributors for Indo and they are going to slowly open the faucet at first but ultimately they expect it to be back/close to pre closure but with limits on certain corals (if I understood him right).

Guess we will have to wait and see what will happen they grow so slow I’m still waiting to cut mine again

It is definitely a great news for indo to open up again.
Right now their government only allows maricultured coral to be exported. Mostly LPS coral such as frogspawn, hammers, acan, lobo, elegant and torch. They have a lot of them to flood the market, so I am expecting the price of LPS drop very significantly.

But I don’t expect coral that mostly from the wild, such as Trachy, scolly, will drop much in price.

It is widely expected the price of indo gold hammer and gold torch will crash. But we need to wait and see.

After speaking to my Lfs they are gonna be exporting at prices similar or slightly higher so no gouging from that aspect. But they did inform that the government might suspend permits for export after the first batch to temporarily analyze the situation, then resume from there.

That information was directly from the exporter and he was unsure if they were just trying to strum up more box orders at the first order or if it’s actually true.

I heard they have a limit of corals this year and only one facility is actually approved so far to ship. I highly doubt you’ll see any significant drop in price.

Maricultured coral are not big sellers in fish stores because their price are significantly higher than wild caught coral and much much smaller in size, even at wholesale level.

Majority of the indo coral that were imported BEFORE the ban were wild caught coral, estimated over 90% of them were wild. So the opening of Indo currently may not lead to a big impact on price drop in LFS level. But you should see the price drop at online store especially higher end LPS like gold something something.

Before the ban, the price of true maricultured coral from Indo were much higher than wild Assuie colonies in term of price vs size.
