hi gents and women just set up a 40 breeder . so the water level in the tank is right up to the top .right up there. so how do i lower it @ 1.5 or so below the rim of the tank.,,, do i lower the t/o system i took out 3 gal. the other day .and bingo it is back... .i would like to keep it lower then the top of the rim ..thank you

Not quite sure from explanation, but I'll give it a shot. Do you have an auto top off system? If so yes you have to lower the sensor to desired level. Do you have a sump? Do not remove water manually and let top off replenish, as you will be removing salt and replacing with fresh.

If there is a sump, perhaps the overflow needs to be adjusted to lower the water level in the display. In order to get the pros input (e.g. not me) you may want to provide much more information.

Yes, if you have a sump the tank level shouldn't fluctuate - check that your overflow isn't clogged or throttle back your return pump so your overflow can keep up with it.

If there is a sump, your display will always be at the height of the weirs in the tank. No way around it.

Sadly, there is a way around it. But call Noah first as the flood is a comin'. LOL.

What type of overflow on the 40 breeder? A photo will help
